Before I answer that question, let’s first define what exactly we mean by learner autonomy.
As a term related to language learning, helping learners understand the process of learning both inside and outside the classroom. It means that they begin to understand that they have a large role to play in their own learning. It also allows learners to understand what their needs are and to set goals for themselves.
when we want to start to be autonomous w just ask our self tat question,
Why I feel I can be an autonomous learner, it s simply because we are not prepared or we think that it s alwaysa hard to learn by yourself and speacily when you are always study only in class and expect your teacher to eplain to you, but it s okay to feel sceared or thin like you can not study or unterstand by yourself
Encourage Self-Assessment
o become autonomous, learners need to develop the ability to evaluate their own learning.” In other words, they need to know how to self-assess and to do so honestly. Using Can Do statements at the end of a lesson or unit of work is one simple way of doing this.
And you should set goal It’s been well documented by psychologists and neurologists that setting goals can help track progress, give a sense of direction and increase motivation.
you should be encouraging yourself to create your own measurable goals. But what kind of goals should you be setting ?, i will give you some suggestion :
I’m going to improve my grammar by doing 15 minutes of online exercises every day.
I’ll improve my reading an article on the BBC website every day and then telling someone about it or you can also writing what did you unterstand from this artical in your note book
